Destination Guide - Courchevel

Welcome to our Guide to Courchevel

Our ultimate favourite in the Alps, and for very good reason. Courchevel somehow manages to feel glamorous without losing that proper mountain charm. It has some of the best hotels in Europe, brilliant restaurants, beautiful boutiques and a village that always has a bit of a buzz to it. Days naturally fall into a very good rhythm: ski, long lunch, maybe a little shopping, then back to the hotel before doing it all over again in the evening. It can be as relaxed or as dressed-up as you want, which is probably why we never seem to tire of it.

THE DESTINATION

Our ultimate favourite in the Alps, and for very good reason. Courchevel somehow manages to feel glamorous without losing that proper mountain charm. It has some of the best hotels in Europe, brilliant restaurants, beautiful boutiques and a village that always has a bit of a buzz to it. Days naturally fall into a very good rhythm: ski, long lunch, maybe a little shopping, then back to the hotel before doing it all over again in the evening. It can be as relaxed or as dressed-up as you want, which is probably why we never seem to tire of it.

THE SKIING

The lifestyle might get plenty of attention, but the skiing is seriously good too. Courchevel sits within the Three Valleys, so you have an enormous amount of terrain on your doorstep and can easily ski across to Méribel and beyond. There is something for every level, from beautiful wide pistes for easy cruising to more challenging runs for stronger skiers. And, in true Courchevel style, some of the best restaurants on the mountain just happen to require skis to reach them. Hardly a hardship.

BEYOND THE SKI

This is where Courchevel really earns its place at the top of our list. Après can mean champagne on a sunny terrace, cocktails by the fire or carrying on well into the evening. There are incredible spas, designer shopping, restaurants you actually want to dress up for and enough going on that non-skiers never feel like an afterthought. Spend the afternoon wandering through 1850, book a treatment, settle in for a very long dinner or simply stay put somewhere fabulous. The skiing may be the reason you book Courchevel, but everything around it is why you come back.

HOTELS WE LOVE

01.

L'Apogee

1850

One of Courchevel’s best ski-in, ski-out addresses, with warm, glamorous interiors, brilliant family-friendly rooms and two private chalets. Add the La Prairie spa, indoor pool, excellent kids’ clubs and brand-new Beefbar, and it’s an effortlessly luxurious choice for families.

02.

Fouquet’s

1850

Right on the Bellecôte piste, Fouquet’s combines classic alpine warmth with a more polished, Parisian feel. With just 42 rooms and suites, Loulou for Italian dining, a brilliant spa, outdoor jacuzzi and dedicated kids’ spaces, it’s glamorous but still very easy for families.

03.

Le K2 Palace

1850

One of Courchevel’s most impressive palace hotels, with Tibetan-inspired interiors, huge suites and private chalet options overlooking the valley. The 500-square-metre Goji Spa is fantastic, while dining ranges from L’Altiplano to the two-Michelin-starred Sarkara.

04.

Rosewood

1850

One of Courchevel’s most exciting new openings, Rosewood sits in Jardin Alpin with direct piste access and dedicated ski butlers. The look is contemporary and beautifully understated, with just 51 rooms and suites, a huge 17-metre pool, Asaya spa and some excellent family accommodation.

05.

Les Airelles

1850

Pure Courchevel magic. Les Airelles is instantly recognisable for its fairytale turrets and ornate Austro-Hungarian interiors, with just 44 rooms and suites, six restaurants and one of the best family set-ups in the resort. The service is famously generous and the Winter Camp, cinema and children’s pool make it especially brilliant with families. Plus, all of the extras we always love from Airelles Collection.

06.

Le Portetta

1650

A much more relaxed take on Courchevel, right at the foot of the slopes in 1650. Think log fires, cosy rooms and family lofts, Angela Hartnett’s Italian-influenced Cucina Angelina and the brilliant Fire & Ice terrace for après-ski.

07.

Le Saint Roch

1850

New for 2026

Reopening for winter 2026 under Maisons Pariente, Saint Roch is a beautifully intimate 37-room hotel on the Bellecôte piste. The new look takes inspiration from traditional dachas, with rich woods and a very residential feel, alongside a Tata Harper spa, indoor pool, kids’ club and restaurant.

08.

Le K2 Altitude

1850

Set directly on the Pralong piste, K2 Altitude feels quieter and more intimate than its sister K2 Palace. It has a wonderful 340-square-metre Goji Spa, indoor pool and outdoor hot bath, plus Michelin-starred L’Altitude for a proper destination dinner without leaving the hotel.

09.

Maya Hotel

1850

A small, design-led boutique hotel right in the heart of Courchevel 1850, with Japanese-inspired interiors and beautiful Lalique detailing. It feels much more intimate than the big Palace hotels, with MayaBay for Japanese-Thai dining and a new-look Maya Well spa arriving for winter 2026.

CHALETS WE LOVE

01.

Chalet Lily of the Valley

1850

A beautiful new ski-in, ski-out chalet in Courchevel 1850, designed by Charles Zana with six bedrooms and a warm, contemporary alpine feel. There’s an indoor pool, hammam, cinema and private chef, making it a brilliant choice for families or groups who want the privacy of a chalet with proper five-star service.

02.

Ultima

1650

Set directly on the Belvédère piste, Ultima is a collection of 13 private ski-in, ski-out chalets, ranging from one to five bedrooms, with all the ease of a five-star hotel. Expect serious space, beautiful mountain views, private butler service and access to two spas with pools, saunas and hammams.

03.

Chalet Ormello

Airelles Collection

1850

An exceptional private chalet just moments from Les Airelles, with nine bedrooms, an indoor pool, cinema and its own chef and butler. It offers the privacy and space of a standalone chalet, with the full service and spoiling of the Les Airelles magic.

04.

Chalet Panmah & Abruzzes

Le K2 Palace

1850

Two beautifully private chalets connected to Le K2 Palace, with five and seven bedrooms respectively. Both come with generous living spaces, private pools, cinema rooms and full access to the hotel’s restaurants, spa and service, making them a brilliant option for families or groups who want chalet privacy with everything taken care of.

05.

Chalet L'Alpensia & L'Amarante

L'Apogee Courchevel

1850

Two beautiful five-bedroom ski-in, ski-out chalets directly connected to L’Apogée, each sleeping up to 11 guests. Both come with their own spa, cinema, butler and private chef on request, giving you all the privacy of a chalet with the hotel’s restaurants, pool and spa just steps away.

06.

Chalet LUME

1850

Luma Lodge combines sleek contemporary design with the warmth of a classic Alpine chalet. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame incredible mountain views, while the double-height living space creates a real sense of scale. Stylish, spacious and cosy, it’s a beautiful modern base in the French Alps.
